PORTRAIT TYRRELL

Lives and works in London.

After a year and a half at Humber College in Toronto Canada, one of the best colleges for jazz in North America, Tyrrell came to London UK and spent the nineties mixing and remixing various

artists including, PM DAWN, URBAN SPECIES, KHALED, NINA HAGEN, BLUE PEARL and INCOGNITO. Also a multi-instrumentalist, he played guitar on the Mercury Music Prize winning album "New Forms" by RONI SIZE and REPRAZENT and did a spoken vocal for THE ORB.

Tyrrell formed INTERFEARENCE with ex-Talkin´ Loud A&R man, PAUL MARTIN in 1998 and they were immediately snapped up by Lisa Loud for Pete Tong´s ffrr label at London Records. They released many singles and remixes to critical acclaim from underground audiences worldwide and also a self-titled album in 1999. Their second album, "Take That Train" was released on the San Francisco based jazz label, Ubiquity.

After Interfearence came HOOKED; Tyrrell´s latest collaboration with Chris Thomaidis, a London based singer/songwriter. They have a much more electro/rock sound and their promos were big favourites with Steve Lawler, Pete Tong and Benny Bennassi. Recent releases include "Love With You" featuring the vocals of Kym Brown and their remix of MJ Cole´s "Watertight", out now on Hed Kandi.

The "Robofucius EP" finally sees Tyrrell´s solo work getting proper exposure on Etage Noir. The EP is his attempt at marrying the two worlds of Interfearence´s funky breaks and Hooked´s electronic sounds.
